BEFORE

DIGITALLY MORPHED VERSION OF FIRST PICTURE TO EDUCATE THE PATIENT HOW THE NOSE MAY LOOK AFTER SURGERY
DIGITAL MANIPULATION ALLOWS A FAIRLY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT THE SURGEON IS PLANING TO ACHIEVE FROM THE SURGERY AND IF THE SUGGESTED CHANGES ARE IN LINE WITH THE PATIENTS EXPECTATION AND ASPIRATION.
MORPHING IS THE CENTRAL THEME OF SURGICAL PLANNING IN MY PRACTICE.
IT IS MADE CLEAR TO THE PATIENT THAT THE EXERCISE IS NOT TO PROMISE THE CHANGES SHOWN ON THE SCREEN BUT TO CLEARLY CONVEY THE IDEAL OBJECTIVE AND SOMETIMES THE POSSIBLE POOR OUTCOMES.

AFTER
THREE WEEKS AFTER SURGERY

OBJECTIVES MET
1 NARROW MID-DORSUM
2. NARROW BUT FUNCTIONALLY ADEQUATE NASAL TIP
3 SOFTER AESTHETIC LINES APPROPRIATE FOR A TALL YOUNG MAN.

29 YEARS OF BLOCKED NOSE. UNILATERAL CHOANAL ATRESIA IN A YOUNG ADULT.

Failure of the posterior opening of the Right nasal cavity to canalize during development in this young adult left her nose completely blocked on the Right side. The opening created with controlled and safe technique allowed normal airway. It is quite interesting that three decades of blockage to the nasal secretion pathway did not lead to sinusitis. You can see maxillary sinus lining showing a degree of mucosal hypertrophy on the blocked right side.

RHINOPLASTY BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES : BASAL VIEW IS THE KEY

basal

Basal view of the nose is the key view while comparing the Before and After results in Rhinoplasty & Septo-Rhinoplasty. This view is not generally visible to the onlooker but it indicates that the principles of sound rhinoplasty techniques have been adhered to, successfully. It confirms the midline position of the central structure – the Septum, the symmetry and harmony of the nasal tip components and the nostrils.

ADVANCES IN RHINOPLASTY: LESSONS FROM CHICAGO

LESSONS FROM CHICAGO

Conchal cartilage as Alar support grafts … too weak …makes sense

Turkish Delight makes way for Sausages & Swiss rolls ! Abel-Jan Tasman’s trick … the best presentation of a new technique … will it work sans fascia … or perhaps lay some fascia over the graft …
The elephant in the room … Injectables were not mentioned over four days ! hmmm …
Microdermabraision for columellar & Alar base scars … quiet again …
Rib cartilage grafts … indications and refined use … Dean Toriyumi’s masterclass
Did I notice a wee step back towards the “close”approach ? …Pastorek, Bobby Simon & Pietro Palma beckon …
Gilbert Nolst Trenite demonstrated the deprojection techniques beautifully … I have had the priviledge of observing and assisting him on several occasions during my fellowship with him …
Pre and Post pictures still lacking standardization … even at this level !!!
